Transfigure Photography ethos is to find the converging line between the world of film, fine art and commercial photography and bound all those agents together to cook up a dream and add it to a reality. I work with an idea, visualise it and create it. Transfigure Photography says as much about me than the name denotes. I have metamorphosed myself from a snapshot photographer to a professional photographer, photographing many different subjects, from seascapes, portraiture, to monster dump trucks.

Photography for me is walking hand in hand with film making, converging the demand for creative exploration and pushing the boundaries in liberating client’s realities to give their photo shoot a new perspective digitally.

I just don’t use my camera to take photographs I work, blend and arouse, still and moving images.

I'm available for commissioned work.

Art Bloggs

Once upon a time I thought looking at art was for the elite of the world who could afford to purchase a piece of art for a million pounds. But this viewpoint changed when I saw some great artists on display at art galleries and started to blog about it. Art isn’t a bore

Is art a bore?

I started writing about my bored experiences at stuffy art galleries or ultra sleek minimalistic ones trying so hard not to yawn when guides relates the history of the masterpiece and artist …bore bore, bore, bore, bore. Then on a trip to Vienna, I discovered Gustav Klimt, Franz Von Stuck, Max Ernst, Caravaggio, Bosch, Miró, Salvador Dali, Accrimboldo and too many others to name.

Caravaggio “Boy picking fruit”

This became the birth of my blog ideas on art. I already had the photographic website displaying my work and hoping for a sale or two so I merged these platforms to create the website as it is today. I wanted to write blogs articles related to my passion and appreciation for art even though I can’t paint.

Art Galleries

I am aware of the numerous blogs dedicated to art and art galleries. My humble contribution is only a way of expressing my thoughts and feelings in the hope that it may also inspire readers and become an art lover covert like me.

Who writes the blogs?
I am a photographer an independent filmmaker and an art historian dropout. With writing these blogs I want to pass on my observations, knowledge from what I read, discovered and learnt from my wife who is an avid reader. With these blogs I have all the freedom in the world to choose the subjects that I find interesting. Art is a very broad subject so I do not pretend to know everything about art and artists.

Roland Keates Blogging

I publish only one or two articles per week as photography and editing of photographs take up the rest of my time. I hope you will enjoy the blogs and support me with some advice or comments on the articles. Article contributions are also very welcome as it can get very lonely to be the sole writer.
