Transfigure Photography ethos is to find the converging line between the world of film, fine art and commercial photography and bound all those agents together to cook up a dream and add it to a reality. I work with an idea, visualise it and create it. Transfigure Photography says as much about me than the name denotes. I have metamorphosed myself from a snapshot photographer to a professional photographer, photographing many different subjects, from seascapes, portraiture, to monster dump trucks.

Photography for me is walking hand in hand with film making, converging the demand for creative exploration and pushing the boundaries in liberating client’s realities to give their photo shoot a new perspective digitally.


I just don’t use my camera to take photographs I work, blend and arouse, still and moving images.

Augusto Rodrigues Duarte

Augusto Rodrigues Duarte was born in Nespereira in Portugal. He began his studies in 1866 at the Imperial Academy of Fine arts. He drew attention at school for being a great student, winning several awards, including two gold medals. His strengh laid in painting portraits and landscapes.

In 1866, Augusto Rodrigues Duarte enrolled in the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts – Aiba, which has classes with Victor Meirelles (1832-1903) and received several awards in historical painting and in vivo model.

In 1874, he traveled on his own to Paris to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts [National Superior School of Fine Arts], becoming a disciple of Jean-Léon Gérôme (1924-1904). He participates in the Paris Salon of 1877, with interior Apollo Gallery in the Louvre. In the Exposition Universelle [Universal Exhibition] Paris, 1878, shows the “Funeral of Atala.”

Back in Brazil in 1879, he receiving the gold medal at the General Fine Arts Exhibition this year. In 1882, he exhibited his painting “Funeral of Atala” in the School of Arts and Crafts of Rio de Janeiro. In 1885, the Brazilian imperial government acquires the piece, now part of the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA).

In 1884 Exhibition, presented in Lagoa Paraiba margins, View of the Great Cascade of Tijuca and thoughtful military and is awarded the title of Knight of the Imperial Order of the Rose. It is included in shows Brazilian Landscape Exhibition, 1944, Painting Retrospective in Brazil, 1948, both in the MNBA, and II Bienal de São Paulo, 1953, in room Brazilian landscape until 1900.
